Moved In - Mostly
February 14, 1999
Well, after a month and a half, we finally moved most of the pages to Spells Street. We had
already moved most of them over, but hadn't edited them to cross link in their new home. We had
to design the new logo and change the addressing of the images and local links, which we
had included more of the address than necessary in the linkage. We still have many images
to upload for some of the link listings, where we will make local copies of site banners. The
banners loaded much slower when we linked them to the original sites.
The purpose of this new site is to specialize in an area that was taking up
much of the menu and detracting from other unrelated items at the old site.
There were some items in the site that didn't mix well, and now we can devote
the old site to family matters, genealogy, family photos, etc. The
old site
is still there and we haven't yet removed either the pages or the menu links
to the Thelema and Kabala and Esoteric pages. - - - One thing at a time.
Meanwhile, we had gotten side-tracked and joined another group where we set up
a few pages on Assyriology, or Sumerology, or actually, pre- Sumerology. On
that site, we have taken on the identity of the major god of one of the earliest
known recorded myths in existence. The story line source is taken from salvaged
clay tablets of the Epic of Gilgamesh and the Enuma Elish which
have only recently been fully translated. The location is at
Ancient Sites where everyone has the ability to have
two home pages, one of which consists of a four or five room cyber residence in the
city of choice. (They also give you walls, furniture, and a choice of character
images, with the option of uploading your own.) Here is a link to
Anu's heavenly home
page which also links to the cyber
residence in Babylon.

Spells Street is gone
In the last few months of the year 2000, the Web Page Server at
Fortune City has undergone some changes. One of these changes
has to do with the file structure of the server. The user pages
are no longer listed under a cyber town (subdivision) and a
cyber street, as they were when I moved in. Although I moved
in as willnet1, I was assigned the address of #11 Spells Street
in Roswell and a URL of http://www.fortunecity.com/roswell/spells/11.
And now the address is as you see it.
In two years, a lot has changed. The internet has grown. And
many webmasters have moved their sites as often as they have
changed ISP's. A lot of my links have gone dead, and I have
a hard time finding the new locations. Instead of linking to
a relevant page, it is sometimes better to make a temporary
"mirror" of the relevant linked page, with credits to the
original author or researcher. But authors want to update
their sites, and a "mirror" doesn't usually get updated. I had
one link where the author completely changed his mind about a
major premise. I guess it isn't quite fair to continue to quote
him in an old context with which he no longer agrees.
Take Machiavelli, for instance. In The Prince, he
promoted the theory of "might makes right" and of forcing a
political situation on the population. Later in life, he recants
that theory, saying that it did not apply to populations with a
higher level of learning and sophistication. In other words, the
Spaniards were right in destroying the "uncivilized" Mayan/Aztec
culture and imposing their own religious and political standards
I have to move this thought to a different thread . . .
